Alignment Masking
There are several new features for Alignments in Civil 3D 2010. Two of the features that will catch your eye right away are as follows:
1. The Create Alignment From Polyline command has been renamed to Create Alignment From Objects
2. The addition of the new “Masking” property
Much as they were in Land Desktop, alignments can now be created from objects – lines, curves, etc. What’s really interested me, however (and of course there is much more than this), is the ability to mask out portions of an alignment. The masking feature enables you to define ranges along an alignment where the geometry and labels are not drawn (but still exist).
You’ll find the Masking tab in the Alignment Properties dialog as shown above.
