C3D 2006 Installation Issues
The biggest issues users are encountering when loading Civil 3D (or any of the 2006 products for that matter) are that some components (“Error loading AcStandards Services” et al) apparently aren’t installing properly. CUI’s aren’t building properly, items are missing from the registry, the workspaces are empty, etc. In most cases, you can repair a botched install by turning off the virus scanner and giving the user Admin rights for an installation repair (via the Control Panel).
Most installation problems could be bypassed if the installer would take a moment to read the Installation Guide. Page 2 of the installation guide states the following: “To install Autodesk Civil 3D 2006, you must have administrator permissions.” Also found on page 2: “The Autodesk Civil 3D 2006 installation process may stop if certain applications, such as Microsoft Outlook or virus-checking programs, are running. Close all running applications to avoid possible data loss.”
Allow me clarify: Do yourself a favor, make sure the user has Admin rights and temporarily disable the virus scanner before installing Civil 3D 2006.
