Civil 3D 2007 Preview – Cross Section Bands
Profile and cross section views are very similar. By now you’ve learned that in order for the elevations labeled in a horizontal band at the bottom of the profile view to reflect both existing and proposed elevations, you need to define Profile1 and Profile2. Actually, if you’re anything like me, it’ll be the first thing you change. Select the view, right click and select “Profile View Properties.” On the “Bands” tab you’ll find you have a choice when defining Profile1 vs. Profile2; Profile1 is proposed by default.
The problem with cross section views in Civil 3D 2006 is that they act identically. Yup, if you have 100 section views in the drawing, your changing each view – one at a time – very tedious, very irritating. Not so in 2007!
When you have sections defined using multiple surfaces (an existing and a proposed), and when you use the “Create Multiple Views” command, Civil 3D will first prompt you as to the definitions of Surface1 and Surface2.
Cheers and Hallelujah!
