Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

I still receive quite a few questions regarding labels in Civil 3D; a picture is worth a thousand words. Notice the screen captures below (I use SnagIt by Techsmith www.techsmith.com). Each of the 4 viewports views a partial subdivision plat.

I’ve attached the plat as a x’ref, and cut 4 viewports on a layout tab. One is 20 scale, one is 30 scale, one is Dview Twisted, one has a rotated UCS, and the labels look exactly the same (yes, even through the x’ref) – that’s the power in Civil 3D labels – you’re seeing the same labels in completely different ways, and Civil 3D is compensating for you! Think more about design, and less about drafting… the way it ought to be.

No, AutoCAD TEXT and MTEXT don’t function the same way, but I’m not complaining. If you need to label something, I’m sure you’ll discover interesting ways to make the majority of your labels Civil 3D labels!

Cheers!
